Live in the Shuswap

Kerry had a lot of fun with Richard Sevigny on The Voice 93.7FM, 'Live in the Shuswap' program, talking about the new release, Farther Along.

Check the link for the archived program.  Lots of laughs frequently interrupted by music.

Farther Along on Live in the Shuswap January 2018

Also last week was a visit with Dale "Bushy" Bush on his program  on The Voice, 'All Over the Map', where they played some tunes, told some stories, and talked about Robbie Burns Day.  We'll let you know when it is archived.

Farther Along review

The new album, Farther Along was reviewed in the Vernon Morning Star, Friday January 12, 2018.  Reviewer Dean Gordon-Smith had good things to say about the new release.  One thing that could have been a little more clearly stated was the musical--instrumental and vocal--contributions from Andrew and Zachari Smith, who were named as producers, but not as players on the album.

https://www.vernonmorningstar.com/entertainment/street-sounds-kerry-parks-new-album-reviewed/

Thanks Dean Gordon-Smith for the review, thanks to everyone involved in the project, and thanks to everyone who supports live music! (You know, by buying a copy, you help to keep musicians alive!)

Support Community Radio!

The new CD Farther Along got some exposure and a track played on Vancouver Co-op Radio's Better Days radio program yesterday.  Thanks Duke Lang for the support!  Check their archives files for the January 6th 2018 show's first half for Duke's comments about it.  And lots of other good tunes on the show also.

Coming up, Kerry will be interviewed by Richard Sevigny from Salmon Arm's Voice of the Shuswap on the program Live in the Shuswap, airing Wednesdays at 7:00pm, Friday at 3:00pm and Sundays at 11:00.  There will be an archive file available, date TBA.  Later in the month, Kerry will be seeing Dale 'Bushy' Bush for his program also.

Onward and upward!

Farther Along - Kerry Parks with Steel Wound and Friends

Well, friends and neighbours, our own Kerry Parks has finished the new CD, Farther Along, a new collection of story songs, word paintings, message tunes and rollicking good-time blues.  Ten originals, two reworked Traditional numbers, and one great cover tune are all sure to please.

Produced by Andrew Smith, Zachari Smith, and Kerry Parks.  Recorded, mixed and mastered at Lake Studios in Kelowna, BC, and Montreal, PQ.

Check the Music tab for samples and digital downloads, or go to the Store for physical CD purchases.

Progress

Well, folks, we've sent the new CD off for production.  The tracks sound great, the artwork is all proofed and approved, and it's a go!

It should be available in the first half of December.

Stay tuned.

Farther Along

New CD project on the go...featuring a few of Kerry's songs that have not made it into the regular Steel Wound set lists.
Andrew Smith has been working his Producer magic at Lake Studios in Kelowna. Just got to hear a half dozen or so of the tracks over the weekend. Should be good.
More info to follow, Farther Along.

Impermanence

Time goes on, things change.  Everything comes from something and goes to something else.

Our friend and partner, Rod MacDonald, bassman extraordinaire, continues his healing journey, and he will play with us again at times, but he has left the lineup as a regular member.  We wish him all the best in the future, and we thank him most sincerely for all that he has done in the past.

For the present and for our future, we are pleased to welcome multi-instrumentalist Brian McMahon to our line-up as our go-to bassmaster.  Brian (Mr McMusic for years of students) taught music and high school band for...decades.  He plays trombone, sax, guitar and bass with the Legendary Lake Monsters, and plays stand-up bass with a number of jazz ensembles.  Brian brings a wealth of technical expertise and a barrel of enthusiasm (along with a heavy schedule).

Lots of fun to come!

Progress

After doing gigs with our friend Brian McMahon on bass, Rod is back with us for this week's Barry Dorval Fundraiser event.  It will be his first time back for a whole show.
It'll be great to have him back in the lineup--who else plays valve bass like that?
